The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has announced the recipients of its 2026 PDAC Awards, recognizing five outstanding groups for their exceptional contributions to mineral exploration, development, sustainability, and leadership.
PDAC President Karen Rees said the 2026 award recipients highlight the power of collaboration and innovation within the mineral industry. “The 2026 recipients demonstrate how passion and teamwork can turn ideas into achievement. Their work reflects the determination, resourcefulness, and shared commitment that keep our industry moving forward,” she said.
Since 1977, the annual PDAC Awards have honoured individuals, teams, and companies whose achievements have driven discovery and sustainable growth in the global mineral sector.
The award recipients will be formally honoured during the PDAC 2026 Convention at the Awards Celebration & Nite Cap on March 3, 2026, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. The event, one of the convention’s most anticipated highlights, will include a cocktail reception, a three-course dinner, the presentation of PDAC’s five prestigious awards, and a networking reception.
The 2026 PDAC Awards recipients are:
Bill Dennis Award (Canadian discovery or prospecting success): Canadian Royalties Exploration Team for the discovery of the Inukshuk Deposit in Nunavik, Quebec.
Skookum Jim Award (Indigenous achievement in the mineral industry): Des Nedhe Group for advancing Indigenous entrepreneurship and community-led economic development in Saskatchewan.
Sustainability Award (environmental protection and community relations): Blue Lagoon Resources for its commitment to sustainable development and Indigenous partnerships at the Dome Mountain Gold Project in British Columbia.
Thayer Lindsley Award (international mineral discovery): AngloGold Ashanti, Renaissance Gold, and Callinan Royalties for the discovery of the Silicon and Merlin gold-silver deposits near Beatty, Nevada, USA.
Viola R. MacMillan Award (leadership in management and finance): Equinox Gold for the acquisition, financing, and development of the Greenstone Mine in Geraldton, Ontario.
PDAC said the award recipients were selected by its Board of Directors based on recommendations from the association’s Awards Committee.
Ticket sales for the Awards Celebration & Nite Cap will open in December, with notifications available through PDAC’s website.
PDAC is the leading voice of Canada’s mineral exploration and development community, representing more than 8,200 members worldwide. The industry employs over 724,000 people and contributed an estimated $156 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2024. PDAC’s 94th annual convention, PDAC 2026, will be held in Toronto from March 1 to 4, 2026.
